Spring 2014: We are moving! We have bought a lovely piece of property west of Perth, Ontario where we will be creating our new rural off-grid home and farmstead. Thank you to the many lovely Aylmerites and friends that have supported my urban farming adventure.

We are a small urban farm made up of backyards in Aylmer, Quebec. For farm photos, updates and to meet the farm team, please see our blog.

Photo: Michel Dorais. Michel is a wonderful Aylmer photographer. I am honoured to be photographed by him. micdorais.smugmug.com.

Anne Janssen is the main “farmer” and has been growing for more than 10 years. Her eating passion started long before, of course, as well as her heartfelt advocacy for the earth and all things organic, including the people growing our food.

In 2010, with much encouragement, she decided to ‘go public’ and start growing for market.

We grow according to organic principles and sell our veg and a few other gourmet, local food items from the porch of the Boulangerie aux Deux Frères, in the heart of old Aylmer, on 146 rue Principale, less than 5km from where most of it is grown.

Thanks to several lovely friends, volunteers, foodies and a truly great hubby, Aylmer Backyard Farms is able to produce hyper local, top-quality vegetables, herbs and flowers throughout the summer.

Thanks also to the many people of Aylmer who have come out and become customers since the spring of 2010 and to the deux frères, Emmanuel and Étienne, and the lovely Marianne, for hosting us on their welcoming porch every Saturday morning from 9:00 – 1:00p.m.

If you haven’t yet done so, a visit to the Boulangerie aux Deux Frères on a Saturday morning, in the summer, is a lovely experience. They are master artisanal bakers and every product is fantastic. You can have a coffee on the bench outside and check out our vegetables while you are there.
See you there between 9:00 and 13:00!

If we make a profit, we’ll share it. We aim to give 10% of our household income to various charitable activities.
